Strange Days (1995) directed by Kathryn Bigelow stars Angela Bassett as Mace and Ralph Fiennes as Lenny. It blends science fiction with film noir conventions, exploring themes such as racism, abuse of power, rape and voyeurism. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but at its core is the romance between Mace, who loves Lenny, and Lenny who just can’t see her love for him and still thinks he’s in love with his toxic ex, Faith, Juliette Lake Lewis.
I find this tale of unrequited love to be incredibly moving.
